GRANITE

Granite is the best-known igneous rock. Granite is a coarse-grained, light-colored igneous rock composed mainly of feldspars and quartz with minor amounts of mica and amphibole minerals. Many people recognize granite because it is the most common igneous rock found at Earth’s surface and because granite is used to make many objects that we encounter in daily life. These include counter tops, floor tiles, paving stone, curbing, stair treads, building veneer and cemetery monuments

Granite is slowly pushed up to the surface of the earth, and it’s found in quarries. All of this combines to make the stone a singularly hard and durable rock. It’s so tough that it can only be cut with a diamond blade, so the stone fabricators/installers must be highly skilled and knowledgeable to cut accurately and installed to fit.

This igneous stone is also exceptionally beautiful, and can come in many colors. These colors are caused by bits of quartz, black mica and feldspar. The stone many people are familiar with has a salt and pepper pattern, but it can be blue, green, black, pink, red and violet and can be veined with other bright colors as well. The varieties of granite that we sell are listed on our website and are displayed in full slab pictures and close up for you reference. Since picture can be only help to narrow down your selections, does not mean represent the actual accurate color of the stone. We encourage you to come and see the actual slab and have a feel for it.
